Mercy provides support for those grieving.
April 25, 2008/Iowa
City, IA: All adults grieving a loss or the death of a loved one
are invited to a bereavement support program sponsored by Mercy
Iowa City.
The program begins on Wednesday, May 16, and will meet weekly for
six sessions. Meetings are held beginning at 9:30 a.m. in the first
floor conference room at Mercy Hospital, 500 East Market Street,
Iowa City. The facilitator will be Chaplain Nora Welter, PBVM, of
Mercy's Pastoral Care Department.
Personal loss often leads to a new juncture in life where individuals pause, reflect and sometimes make new choices in order to live enriching lives. The bereavement program is designed to provide emotional support to individuals as they move through that process.
“I believe that people who attend will enjoy a new energy toward life,” says Welter.
Topics include: being open to loss, dispelling erroneous ideas about grief, embracing the uniqueness of one’s grief, understanding the needs of all mourners, learning to nurture one’s self, growing to appreciate transformation, and more.
A $10 fee is requested. For more information or registration, please call Mercy On Call at 358-2767 or toll free at 1-800-358-2767. Mercy On Call is available seven days a week, 7 a.m. to midnight.
