MERCY IOWA CITY PROGRAM RANKED AMONG TOP 25 PERCENT
OF HOME HEALTH PROVIDERS IN COUNTRY
January 12, 2007/Iowa City, IA: Mercy Home Care was named to the 2006 HomeCare Elite, the inaugural compilation of the most successful home care providers in the country. This groundbreaking review names the Medicare-certified agencies whose performance measures in quality, improvement and financial performance are among the top 25 percent of providers nationwide. Mercy Home Care is a service of Mercy Iowa City, a not-for-profit community hospital that has served the community since 1873.

The 2006 HomeCare Elite is the first performance recognition of its kind in the home health industry. Mercy Home Care has provided a variety of home health care services since 1985 and is Medicare/Medicaid certified. Services include nursing and rehabilitation, home care aides, medical social worker services, pastoral care, home infusion, wound/ostomy nursing, nutritional counseling, personal cares, 24-hour care and overnight companionship, transportation, light housekeeping, homemaking, medication reminders, and physician follow-up. Many services are covered by Medicare; others are offered on a private-pay basis. Mercy provides these services in Johnson, Cedar, Iowa, Muscatine, Louisa, Washington and Keokuk counties.
