MERCY IOWA CITY OFFERS FREE CLASS TO HELP COUPLES PREPARE FOR PREGNANCY

August 10, 2010/Iowa City, IA: Planning before you get pregnant is very important. Simply put, the healthier you are as you are planning your pregnancy, the more likely you are to have a healthy baby. On Monday, October 6, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Mercy Iowa City will offer a class that will help future parents think about and plan a healthy pregnancy.

Dr. Jill Goodman, obstetrician, will address preconception risk factors, immunizations, screenings, lifestyle and work considerations. Nancy Carlisle, dietitian, will cover principles of good nutrition before and during pregnancy. The financial aspects of having a baby will be discussed by Don Brown, Mercy Access Services Manager. Shari Hebl, RN, Childbirth Educator will discuss Mercy Family Birth Care.
