Wednesday, May 16, 2018 - Strabala selected as program director for Wound and Vein Center
Brent Strabala, RN, BSN, has been named program director of the Mercy Iowa City Wound and Vein Center.

Mr. Strabala will be responsible for achieving clinical, operational and financial results at the center which offers state-of-the-art treatment practices and protocols to reintroduce the body's innate ability to heal.

Brent has been an employee of Mercy Hospital for more than 20 years, first as a nurse in the Cardiovascular Lab and then in the Wound and Vein Center. He has a Bachelors of Science in Nursing from Upper Iowa University and is Board Certified in Wound and Ostomy Nursing (CWON).

The Mercy Wound and Vein center offers leading-edge treatments including hyperbaric oxygen therapy, negative pressure therapies, bioengineered tissues and biosynthetics. The Center also offers Radiofrequency Venous Ablations for symptomatic varicose veins.

Chronic wounds affect more than 8 million patients in the U.S. and the incidence is rising fueled by an aging population and increasing rates of diseases and conditions such as diabetes, obesity and the late effects of radiation therapy.

Mercy’s Wound and Vein Center is located on the 2nd floor of the main hospital, close to the skywalk from the parking ramp. Free parking is available for patients and visitors in the plaza parking ramp and valet services are offered at main entrance for a nominal fee. If you have any questions, feel free to contact the Center at 319-339-3967.
