Tuesday, September 15, 2020 - Mercy Iowa City receives national honor for patient satisfaction

Mercy Iowa City has again received the 2020 Press Ganey Guardian of Excellence Award® for patient experience, recognizing the hospital for its commitment to quality and personalized care for its patients. Mercy Iowa City is the only hospital in southeastern Iowa to receive this award.

Mercy Iowa City earned this recognition after its Emergency Care Unit consistently achieved a 95 percent or above for patient experience over a span of one year. Patients at the hospital took part in a survey to highlight the level of excellence, answering questions from Likelihood to Recommend to Overall Rating and/or Teamwork.

"This award highlights the extraordinary caliber of a rapidly-growing department,” said Sean Williams, President and CEO of Mercy Iowa City. “The service from an exceptional team caring for more than 40,000 visitors a year is consistently proven with short wait times and a continued recognition for excellence.”

This marks the thirteenth consecutive year the Emergency Care Unit at Mercy Iowa City is recognized with the award for patient experience.
