We offer 3D mammograms that deliver a series of clear, digital, high resolution images of the breast. This enables breast tissue to be evaluated layer by layer in more detail, helping to screen for cancer, determine if additional testing is necessary, or dismiss a false positive with confidence.

- Free parking is available for Breast Imaging patients in the Emergency Care Unit/Breast Imaging Center Parking Lot at the corner of Gilbert and Bloomington Streets. You will be given a token to exit the parking lot.
- Patients covered by Medicare will be required to sign an Advance Beneficiary Notice (ABN) before the mammogram. An ABN is needed because Medicare pays for a screening mammogram once every year. There is a frequency limitation on this service.
- So you do not incur any surprise cost associated with the additional fee for the 3D technology, we recommend that you contact your insurance company. You can check billing codes G0202 (for actual screening) and 77063 (doctor interpretation fees).
- The results of your mammogram will be sent to your doctor in 2-3 working days. You will also receive the results in the mail within two weeks.
Cancer Screening Exams and the COVID-19 Vaccination
The CDC and Society of Breast Imaging released new guidelines regarding screening Mammograms and Lung cancer screening CT. 11% of those getting the second dose of the vaccine get swollen lymph nodes on the side of the shot, which may affect the findings of the screening exam and lead to additional imaging and unnecessary procedures.
It is strongly recommended that a patient has their screening exam before their first dose of COVID- 19 vaccine or wait until four weeks after the second dose.

If you are still having menstrual cycles, please schedule your mammogram soon after a period to avoid excessive breast tenderness.
- If you are breastfeeding, please wait at least three months after stopping breastfeeding to have your mammogram.
- Please plan to arrive at the Breast Imaging Center 15 minutes early and bring your doctor order and insurance card(s).
- Wear comfortable clothes, preferably a separate top and bottom.
- Avoid wearing underarm deodorant, lotions or powders as these products may show up on the mammogram. We provide deodorant pads for use after each exam.
- It may be helpful to take a mild over the counter pain reliever one hour before your exam, as the compression used during the mammogram may cause some discomfort.
- If you had a previous mammogram at a different facility, it may be necessary for you to bring the report and/or films with you or have it sent ahead of time. Please ask the Breast Imaging Center staff.
