Surgical Care Unit (SCU)

  • A 24 bed pre-procedural preparation and admission unit for adult and pediatric patients scheduled for surgery, endoscopy and other minor treatments
  • Second phase recovery for outpatients
  • Provides second call for PACU
  • Requires ACLS and PALS
  • Operating Room (OR)

    • Includes 9 operating rooms for adult and pediatric patient populations
    • Surgical specialties include orthopedics, general surgery, gynecology, urology, ENT, pediatric dentistry and plastics
    • Dedicated daVinci robot room
    • Dedicated COVID room
    • Supported by Lifestyle Call
    • Straight shifts

    Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR)

    • A rapidly growing cardiothoracic program
    • ACLS required
    • Straight shifts
    • Daisy Team Award Winner team focused unit with great communication 


    • 4 room endoscopy suite located within the OR caring for an adult population
    • Requires ACLS
    • RN administered conscious sedation
    • Procedures include colonoscopies, upper endoscopies, manometry, PEG tube placement, pH monitor placement

    Post Anesthesia Recovery Unit (PACU)

    • A 7 bay first phase recovery unit plus two isolation capable rooms for adult and pediatric patient populations
    • Requires ACLS and PALS
    • Supported by Lifestyle Call team
    • Straight shifts

    Pre Admission Services (PAS)

    • Verifies health history, medication reconciliation, necessary lab work and tests


    • Supports anesthesiologists during surgery and for procedures outside the department of surgery
    • Clinical experts in IV skills
    • Requires ACLS and PALS


    Medical Unit

    • Collaborative team environment

      • No on call hours
      • Weekend Option OR limited weekends

    Surgical/Orthopedic Unit

    • Heavy emphasis on patient education, discharge teaching and communication
    • Population is primarily orthopedic with general surgery, urology, ear, nose and throat patients

    Maternal Child Unit

    • Fosters teamwork and a collaborative culture
    • Straight shifts with set schedules
    • Opportunities to work in multiple areas of Maternal Child which may include labor/delivery, neonatal intensive care, mother/baby and/or pediatrics

    Infusion Center

    • Provides patient care 7 days per week
    • Chemotherapy and biologic treatments
    • Blood administration and injections
    • Located in the Main Hospital


    • 27 bed high acuity cardiovascular unit
    • Caring for post op day 1 coronary bypass graft and valves, heart failure, chest pain, MI, percutaneous coronary intervention

    • All nurses are ACLS certified within the first 6 months

    Intensive Care Unit

    • 14 bed unit with 12 hour shifts and weekend option
    • ICU population with immediate post op CABG and valves, Impella, IABP, TPA-Stroke, Respiratory Failure
    • Reimbursement provided after passing CCRN exam
    • A dynamic group of staff who thrive under pressure yet provide the special touch that means so much to patients and families
    Emergency Care Unit
    • 22 bed Emergency Room
    • Currently seeing 30,000 patients per year
    • Dynamic group of RN's/Paramedics/MST's/RT/Phlebotomists working together
    • Short wait times and excellent care
    • Level 3 trauma certification
    • Primary Stroke Center
    • BLS/ACLS/PALS and TNCC certification for all RN's
    Cardiac Rehabilitation
    • A close knit team for patients referred from 10 surrounding counties
    • Provide exercise and education at the bedside with Phase 1 inpatients and in the CR lab with Phase 2 and 3 outpatients
    • Lead a monthly cardiac support group with additional education and social opportunities for heart patients and their families
    • Some patients have been coming to Mercy for more than 20 years
    Cardiovascular Lab
    • State-of-the-art CVL uniting clinical excellence with workflow innovation to support the delivery of outstanding patient care
    • Electrophysiology Lab for ablations, pacemakers, defibrillators and cardioversions
