Spiritual Support

 

Spiritual services are offered to patients, families, volunteers, and staff, helping them to cope with challenging situations, all within the context of their own beliefs and value system. Chaplains respectfully offer a listening presence to all persons, regardless of religion, faith, or spiritual tradition.

 

 Our experienced staff Chaplains can:

  • Listening and supportive conversation
  • Understanding of the emotional and spiritual distress of illness, and how it affects individuals and their relationships
  • Help with resources that provide comfort and meaning when coping with the stress of illness
  • Prayers and meditations for relaxation and centering
  • Rituals and spiritual practices that are of importance, including sacramental rites
  • A bridge to your faith community, clergy person, or spiritual leader
  • Support for patient and family as they make health care decisions
  • Support when facing losses due to changes in health and death
  • Grief support for families when a loved one is dying and in the time after
  • Assistance for patients, upon request, about advance directives and other end of life planning
  • Assistance with understanding organ and tissue donation
  • Use of sacred and religious materials and texts
