Monday, August 14, 2017 - Two Mercy Iowa City Lab staff receive national awards

Frederick L Witt, MT, Lab, received a Silver Service Award from the American Medical Technologist (AMT). This award recognizes longtime members who have worked faithfully in their state societies and have compiled a long track record of service to AMT.
Fred is from Washington, Iowa, and was certified by AMT in 1990.  He is the current Iowa treasurer, and a past co-editor, secretary, vice president and president of the Iowa state society, and also served on several state and national committees. Honors include Distinguished Achievement, Exceptional Merit, Pillar Award; at the state level, he was a recipient of the Certificate of Achievement.
Mr. Witt attended Medical Institute of Minnesota, Minneapolis, Winona State University, Winona, MN; and University of Iowa, Iowa City. He is Lab Section Head-Microbiology/Serology/Molecular at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, IA.

 

Jemm Fos, MT, Lab, received a Distinguished Achievement Award from the American Medical Technologist (AMT). This award recognizes outstanding service to AMT and its members at the state level. Recipients are nominated by the state society.
Jemm is from Coralville, Iowa, was certified in 1997. He currently serves the Iowa State Society as Vice President and Editor and he has held the positions of Vice President, Co-Editor and Board member since 2008, and has served on several committees since 2006. Jemm was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology from University of San Austin in Iloilo City, Philippines. He is the Charge Medical Technologist/Shift Supervisor at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa.
