Monday, June 18, 2018 - New Cardiovascular Center formed at Mercy Iowa City

Mercy Iowa City, an affiliate of Mercy Health Network, is pleased to announce that beginning July 9, 2018, Mercy Cardiology and Iowa Heart Center will integrate to create a premier cardiovascular center named Iowa Heart Center – Iowa City. The new clinic will have the same location, address and phone number at 540 E. Jefferson Street, Suite 400, (319) 339-3400. Procedures and hospitalizations will continue to be at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. 

Patients will also continue to see their current Mercy Clinic providers: John Mehegan, M.D., Ankur Vyas, M.D., Michael Hajdu, M.D., Edward Melcher, ARNP, and Annalisa Morgan, ARNP. They will be joined by other Iowa Heart Center providers. All current outreach clinics in Muscatine, Fairfield, Mount Pleasant and Fort Madison will continue.

Iowa Heart Center, also a part of Mercy Health Network, operates 10 full-time offices and serves more than 25 outreach clinics across the state, making it the largest cardiovascular program in Iowa. Their 90 providers work together to provide high quality, comprehensive cardiovascular care and advanced treatment options to patients and their families. Iowa Heart Center is dedicated to the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of heart and vascular diseases and is excited about the opportunity to bring its knowledge and experience to the Iowa City area. 

Mercy Iowa City is a Watson Top 50 Cardiology Hospital, one of only 50 hospitals nationally to have received this designation for quality. By integrating its Mercy Cardiology program with Iowa Heart, the new Iowa Heart Center – Iowa City will include more providers and range of services while continuing the outstanding service and outcomes patients expect from the entire cardiology team at Mercy Iowa City.
