About Mercy

Community Health

The Mission of Mercy Iowa City is to heal and comfort the sick and work to improve the health of the community in the spirit of Jesus Christ and the Catholic tradition of the Sisters of Mercy.

Toward that Mercy Mission of improving community health, Mercy conducted its most recent Community Health Needs Assessment in the fall of 2015. This is a systematic approach to determining the health status, behaviors and needs of residents in Mercy's service area. The results of the assessment can be used to:

  • Improve community health status
  • Reduce health disparities
  • Increase accessibility to health services for all residents
