Margaret Ekroth, MD

Margaret Ekroth grew up in northwest Iowa and graduated from the University of Iowa College of Medicine.  She completed her training in urology at State University of New York Upstate.  She is a member of the American Urological Association (AUA) and the Society of Women in Urology (SWIU).  Dr. Ekroth has been with Mercy Urology since 2012.  The mother of two, Dr. Ekroth enjoys running, hiking, reading and boating. Her specialties include Urologic Oncology, Stone disease, Benign prostatic hyperlasia (BPH), Urinary Incontinence. Dr. Ekroth is located in Iowa City and Washington.

 Luke Brunkhorst, DO

Luke Brunkhorst, D.O. graduated from medical school at Des Moines University and completed his residency at Michigan State University—COM in Wyoming, MI.  Dr. Brunkhorst is certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Surgery – Urology.  He has special interests in robotic surgery and minimally invasive surgery.  Dr. Brunkhorst enjoys playing golf, skiing, and spending time with his wife and two young boys. His specialties include Surgical Oncology for Bladder, Prostate and Kidney Cancer, Bladder Disorders, Urinary Incontinence, Infertility, Kinsey Stone Diseases (Medical and Surgical Care), Prostate Disorders, and Sexual Dysfunction. James G. McCoy, MD 

James G. McCoy, M.D. has been with Mercy Urology (formerly Urologic Associates of Iowa City) since 1992.  A graduate of the University of Iowa College of Medicine, Dr. McCoy did his internship and residency at the University of Iowa.  Board certified with the American Board of Urology, he is a member of the American Urological Association (AUA), Iowa Urologic Society, and Iowa Medical Society.  A native of Mason City, Iowa, Dr. McCoy enjoys vacationing with his family at the lakes of Minnesota, recreational biking, kayaking and birding.  Dr. McCoy is located in Iowa City, Fairfield and Muscatine.

Ashley Umoren, ARNP, FNP-C

Ashley Umoren, ARNP, FNP-C, joined Mercy Urology in 2017.  She is a native of Mason City, Iowa.  Ashley earned her Associate Degree in Nursing from North Iowa Area Community College, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Kaplan University, a Master of Science in Nursing in Leadership and Management from Western Governor’s University, and a Post-Master’s Certificate in Family Nurse Practitioner from Kaplan University.  She is a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and Society of Urologic Nurses and Associates.  Ashley is board certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.  She specializes in recurrent UTI treatment, incontinence, and male health issues. 

She enjoys spending her free time with her family, playing cards, and basketball. What she would like her patients to know about her, "I don't see patients as a diagnosis or disease process. I see a patient as a person with a problem they need help with and I am here to help them. If I am unable to help, I will guide them to the best person to help them."
