Wednesday, September 30, 2020 - Announcing new Chief Nursing Officer and Vice President Patient Care Services

Mercy Iowa City welcomes Kim Volk, MSN, BSN, RN, as of Vice President Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) for Mercy Iowa City. Kim has been a pivotal asset at Mercy Iowa City since 1995 and brings more than 20 years of progressive nursing leadership and exemplary patient care to the role. 

Kim was previously the Director of Nursing Operations and prior to that as Nurse Manager of Nursing Operations and Nurse Practice Analyst in Nursing Administration. Kim has held several nursing positions with Mercy Iowa City, working with Mercy Home Health Care, our Emergency Care Unit and Telemetry, among others. She also served as an Adjunct Clinical Instructor as Kirkwood Community College on the Telemetry Unit teaching best practices for patient care. 

Kim received her MSN from Mount Mercy University, BSN from Upper Iowa University and RN from Kirkwood Community College. She continued to work at Mercy Iowa City while completing her BSN and MSN degrees.  

She is a member of the Iowa Nurses Association and the American Nurses Association. She is also affiliated with the Iowa Organization of Nurse Leaders and the Infusion Nurses Society, among others.
